The “Classroom” Set Up
This past weekend I had the pleasure of hosting two longtime students for a poolside flow. I won’t lie, I was really excited to set up for this one—it felt like I setting up for a retreat.

My students were travelling into Kuala Lumpur for a work conference so I wanted to offer them a relaxing moment of inward reflection and embodied movement before a weekend of presentations and networking.

The Classplan
I planned this class using the exact class-planning template that I teach here.
I pull a lot of my class themes and Nuggets from real life (things that are inspiring me lately, something from my day, etc.) and on this particular morning it rained, HARD. Given that I was meant to be teaching outdoors in a few short hours, that was not exactly ideal but it ended up being for the best because it cooled everything off (we’d been in an unbearable heatwave for days prior).
It made me think of this quote (cannot for the life of me remember where it comes from) that goes something like: “I asked the universe for flowers and it gave me rain”. This formed the theme for the day which was about trusting the process (of life, the flow, our bodies, etc.). I selected a passage from an author that we all love to wrap up our session.

The Sequence
The assignment was “glutes and core”. I planned the sequence using the sequencing template that I teach here1.
Because my students had spent the entire morning travelling, I wanted to give them a movement experience that would relieve their bodies of any accumulated tension from being sedentary. Hip extension, t-spine mobility and side-body stretches were a must, while pulses and repetition added a little extra *spice* which I know they both love.
